Telangana: Vigilance officials keep NHs on radar to crack whip on MV violations
These raids were intensified by the officials after senior IPS officer CV Anand began heading the V&E department

Apart from intercepting vehicles, the officials are seizing and imposing hefty penalties on the vehicles. In some cases, the V&E officials are handing over the seized vehicles to the nearby police stations.
As part of the raids, the officials have noticed major violations in the vehicles transporting sand, stones and metals without any waybills as per the Mines Act and sand as per the GST Act.

Here are details of some of the surprise route checks conducted recently.
Cases booked against 19 lorries at Dundigal X Road
A couple of days ago, the officials of V&E Hyderabad rural unit along with the officials of Mines & RTA departments, conducted a surprise check at Dundigal X Road, Medchal Junction. The officials intercepted the vehicles and booked cases under the MV Act against 19 lorries carrying robo sand, bricks, and 20 mm chips, and seized 12 of them and kept them under safe custody.
Among the 19 cases, 10 cases are related to the vehicles being overloaded, three cases without permits, three cases without fitness, two cases of no driving licences and one case without tax. A fine of Rs 3,82,509 was imposed.
Further, royalty cases under Mines & Mineral Development Regulation Act, 1957, were booked against eight lorries carrying stone metal and bricks and imposed a fine amount of Rs 1,03,461. The total amount of detected fine was Rs 4,85,970.
33 vehicles booked without tax, permits and overload at Kodad
In another incident, the officials of V&E Nalgonda unit along with the officials of Mines & RTA departments intercepted 33 vehicles at Kodad surroundings areas of Suryapet and booked cases under various sections of MV Act against the vehicles for without tax, permits and overload for carrying bulk cement, loose cement, sponge iron and granite blocks.
The officials seized five lorries and kept them under safe custody and imposed a fine of Rs 1,94,010.
Further, royalty cases under Mines & Mineral Development Regulation Act, 1957 were booked against one lorry carrying block granite and imposed a fine amount of Rs 45,313. A granite lorry and a cement lorry were seized for being overweight under variations in Invoice bills and imposed for an amount of Rs 41,190. The total amount of detected fine is Rs 2,80,513.
Seven lorries without waybills intercepted at Sangareddy district
On Saturday, the officials of the V&E Ramachandrapuram unit conducted checks along with the officials of the Mines & RTA departments at Muttangi of Sangareddy District.
The officials intercepted seven vehicles ā two carrying sand and five carrying stone and metal. Out of seven vehicles, six vehicles are transporting illegally without waybills as per the Mines Act and also two sand vehicles are transporting without bills as per GST Act. The same seven vehicles are seized and kept in safe custody.
The officials levied overload tax and compounding fee of Rs 1,40,000 as per MV Act, seigniorage fee and penalty of Rs 2,20,000 as per Mines Act and GST tax of Rs 40,000 as per GST Act, respectively. The total amount of detected fine is Rs 4,00,000.
Further, in addition to the above vehicles, the driver of a lorry seized escaped. The vehicle was handed over to Patancheru Police Station, a case under 1303(2) BNS, Section 3 of the PDPP Act and Sec 21(1) of Mines and Minerals Development and Regulating Act 1957 was registered, the officials said.
11 vehicles booked for carrying overload at Warangal
In another incident, the V&E officials of Warangal unit along with the officials of Mines, State Tax & RTA departments conducted surprise checks at the Komatapally toll gate, Hasanparthy mandal.
They intercepted vehicles and booked cases under the MV Act against 11 vehicles, which included seven sand vehicles, one with dolomite, two with fly ash and one lorry with granite blocks.
The officials also seized vehicles for carrying loads over the limit without the transit form and kept them under safe custody at the district transport office, Hanamkonda, and imposed a fine of Rs 3.75 lakhs. The total amount of detected fine is Rs 3.75 lakhs.
10 motor vehicles seized in Mahabubnagar district
On Saturday, the V&E officials of the Hyderabad city-II unit along with Transport and Mining Department officials conducted a surprise route check on NH-44 at Bhoothpur, Mahabubnagar outskirts and Rajapur areas in Mahabubnagar district.
During the surprise check, they inspected and imposed a fine amount of Rs 4,90,000 on the vehicles towards MV Act violations like overloading, without fitness, insurance, pollution certificates, tax penalties and other violations.
Apart from that, the officials have seized 10 motor vehicles and kept them in Bhutpur, Rajapur, Jadcherla police station of Mahabubnagar district for safe custody. The officials also imposed a GST fine of Rs 30,000 and a royalty of Rs 15,000 towards mining violations. The total revenue detected is Rs 5,35,000, the official said.
