Telangana may witness rains, thunderstorms in upcoming days
Regions in north Telangana may remain cloudy and witness isolated rainfall.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 7 March 2023 12:43 PM GMTHyderabad: Telangana and certain areas in east India are expected to experience isolated thunderstorms and scattered rains due to a wind confluence zone in central India. Regions in north Telangana such as Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Asifabad, and Kamareddy may remain cloudy and witness isolated rainfall.
L.V. Rao, a weather forecaster from IMD, told NewsMeter, āThere is a likelihood of lightning accompanied by rainfall in certain districts of north Telangana, including Adilabad, Komarambheem, Mancheriala, Nirmal, Nizamabad, and Jagityala. This weather phenomenon is expected to occur tonight and the probability of it happening tomorrow (8 March) is very low.ā
He further explained that thunderstorms occur when moist winds from the south combine with dry winds from the north. According to Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, āThere is an anticipated increase in thunderstorm activity in Telangana and other parts of east India in the upcoming days, with some regions even experiencing hailstorms.ā
āStorms are predicted to gradually start in Telangana after 14 March. These storms are likely to be isolated and scattered in nature, accompanied by high winds, crop-damaging rains, and possibly some hail. During the summer season, a type of rainfall called mango showers is expected to occur before 14 March, primarily consisting of isolated rainfall events. After this date, there is a higher chance of rainfall due to the accumulation of moisture,ā he said.
Some premonsoon thunderstorms (isolated - scattered) activity likely to start in Telangana after March 14. Prolonged dry weather for almost 2months may end by that time. Till then dry and hot weather to continue.
