Telangana's IT exports surge by 31.44%, employment rose to 9 lakhs

Hyderabad: Telangana witnessed an explosive 31.44% growth in IT exports during the financial year 2022-23, surpassing the national average growth of 9.36%. The state's Annual IT report, released by Minister KT Ramarao on Monday at T-hub showcasing its impressive performance in the IT and electronics sectors.

Telangana's resilient growth amid the global recession solidifies its position as a leading destination for innovation and investment. IT Minister highlighted the influx of investments received by the state, emphasizing its commitment to nurturing a thriving IT ecosystem.

With a robust infrastructure and skilled workforce, Telangana continues to attract domestic and international investment. Its success reflects the state's dedication to fostering a conducive environment for the IT and electronics industries, bolstering India's global tech standing.

IT, E&C Dept's Progress Report (2022- 23)

IT Annual Progress Report for the Financial year 2023 (2022 - 23):

Following are the Telangana IT Exports and Employment numbers for 2022 - 23

IT Exports for 2022 - 23: Rs. 2,41,275 Crores. This is a Growth of 31.44%

An increase of Rs. 57,706 Crores over the last year (FY 22 was Rs. 1,83,569)

Cumulative IT Employment 2022 - 23: 9,05,715. This is a Growth of 16.29%

1,27,594 net new jobs were created in this Financial year 2023. (FY 22 was 7,78,121)

IT Exports:

Telangana IT exports increased from Rs. 57,258 Cr in 2014 to 2,41,275 Cr in 2023.

Which means, the addition in just one year (2023) has exceeded the total IT exports that united AP grew into over a period of almost 30 years, he said.

IT Employment:

Telangana’s IT employment rose from 3,23,396 in 2014 to 9,05,715 in 2023.

Since the formation of Telangana, 5,82,319 new direct IT jobs have been created in the new state. Each direct job results in over 3 indirect- the report said.

GRID and Tier 2 Highlights

Warangal emerges as an alternate IT Hub, attracting prominent companies like Tech Mahindra, Cyient, Genpact, amongst others.

Tier-II towns in Telangana witnessed the inauguration of LTI Mindtree, Genpact, HRH Next, and Hexad Solutions Pvt. Ltd, he said.

Electronics

Telangana attracted investments of over Rs.38,000 Cr with an employment generation potential of 31,000 people in the Electronics and Energy Storage sectors

Major investments in the last year were from Rajesh Exports (Rs 24,000 cr and 1500 jobs), Amara Raja Batteries++

T-Hub

T-HUB 2.0 is the world’s largest innovation campus with a total built- up-area of 5.82 Lakh sq. ft. It houses 2000 startups, delivered over 75 innovation programs to date, formed over 600 corporate and academic relationships, and a large network of 70+ investors.

T-Works

Foxconn Chairman Shri Young Liu unveiled the 78,000 sq ft building. TWorks is India's largest prototyping center with a built-up area of 78,000 sft, supporting about 300 startups and MSMEs, delivering 1000+ parts and prototypes and has 30 in-house developed products.

TSIC

TSIC is set up to promote grassroots level innovation and student innovation programs.

100 Telangana Startups were granted 2 Lakh each as a part of Direct Disbursement Grant by Govt. of Telangana.

“Innovation in Inclusion” ecosystem was built to promote innovation for the enhancement of People with Disabilities (PwDs) and Children with Special Needs (CWSN).

Government of Telangana has inked an MoU with UNICEF India to set up Y-Hub, India’s first Incubator for Youth and Adolescents in Hyderabad.

Electronic Services Delivery

The Electronic Services Delivery Wing handles the public services that the Government provides online through MeeSeva, T-AppFolio, and T-Wallet.

ESD currently delivers 450+ services of 90+ participating agencies to citizens of Telangana through multiple channels. There are 4500+ MeeSeva centers spread across the state, an Online MeeSeva portal, and a mobile app.

It handles approximately Rs 6,800 Cr per annum. MeeSeva serves about 2.4 Cr citizens per annum.

Telangana is one of the fastest states in India to adopt digital technologies for e-governance. We have ranked number 2 in the country as reported by eTaal, MEITY, Govt of India

T-Fiber

T-Fiber has achieved end-to-end service-ready connections to 12 districts and 4 more districts will be service ready by end of June 2023

The network is ready for launch of services like high-speed internet to households, govt. institutes and private enterprises, IPTV to households.

It underwent capacity enhancements this year and now caters to 31 departments, hosting 275 applications, and has a total storage capacity of 2.6 PB.
