Telugu actor Hema arrested in Bengaluru rave party case

Bengaluru: Telugu actor Hema who tested positive for drugs has been taken into custody by the Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru in the rave party case.

The CCB raided the dusk-to-dawn party on May 19 which 103 people had attended, including the Telugu film actor.

Hema was arrested for attempting to conceal her identify, providing false information and arranging the party. She appeared before CCB in burqa. She will be taken for a medical test and will be produced before the court on Tuesday.

Hema tried to mislead the police

Hema had allegedly tried to mislead the police by releasing a video stating that she wasn’t in Bengaluru and had not attended the investigation despite two notices. In her message, the senior Telugu actress had asked the people ‘not to believe the news as she had not gone anywhere and was at a farmhouse in Hyderabad at the time of the raid.

Earlier in May, one of the organisers of the event from Hyderabad was arrested.

As many as 86 individuals including Telugu actor Hema tested positive for drugs after being caught by the Central Crime Branch during a raid at a rave party in Bengaluru. The teams seized Ecstacy pills, cocaine and other drugs. Acting on a tip-off, the raid was carried out at a farmhouse near Electronic City in the wee hours on May 19. There were more than 100 attendees from Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru, including over 25 young women.

DJs, models, actors and techies were among those present at the party. The event was organised between 5 pm (May 18) and 6 am (May 19) as a birthday party by a Hyderabad-based person Vasu. MDMA (Ecstacy) pills, MDMA crystals, hydro cannabis, cocaine, high-end cars, and DJ equipment, including sound and lighting worth Rs 1.5 crore were seized by the police.
