Ten years on, Telangana’s investment poster boy, Jayesh Ranjan, transitions to CMO as Special CS
Hyderabad: Senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan, once known as the poster boy for investments in Telangana, has finally been moved out as Telangana Information Technology Secretary, a post he has held since the formation of the state.
The Congress government elevated him to a new position by creating a new cell. After 10 years, Jayesh Ranjan has been posted in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) as Special Chief Secretary to the Government and CEO, Industry & Investment Cell and SPEED.
The Congress government created the SPEED to ensure fast approvals and grounding of investments. To assist him, the government has appointed senior officer E.V. Narasimha Reddy as the Additional CEO of the Industry & Investment Cell and SPEED.
The government has appointed Sanjay Kumar as the new IT Secretary to replace Jayesh Ranjan. On the BRS silver jubilee celebrations on April 27, former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao took potshots at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Soon after, an order was issued from the CMO announcing a major reshuffle in the top bureaucracy.
Accordingly, K Ramakrishna Rao, a 1991 batch IAS officer, who was Special Chief Secretary in the Finance Department, was appointed the new chief secretary of the state. Ramakrishna Rao will replace A Santhi Kumari, who will attain superannuation on April 30, according to a GO issued on Sunday.
Jayesh Ranjan holds the fort
Hailing from Lucknow, Jayesh Rajan, a 1992 batch IAS officer, navigated both the BRS and the Congress government. When many IAS officials were moved out after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy took charge, Jayesh was not touched and continued as the IT Secretary. This is despite his proximity and camaraderie with former IT Minister and BRS Working President K T Rama Rao.
Jayesh Ranjan holds a record in bringing massive investments to the state. From Davos to Japan, he accompanied ministers to various International summits and inked multi crore projects. He is the officer behind many brands established in Hyderabad.
He is the face of many high-profile events and has a robust network in the city. He can be seen with the who's who of cricket and the fashion world.
Interestingly, he will now be the force behind the Miss World Competition to be held in Telangana from May 7.
Senior IAS officer Smita Sabarwal, who was the face of Telangana Tourism, seems to have fallen from favor after she retweeted a Ghibli image criticizing the government on the HCU land row. Consequently, Cyberabad Police issued her a notice to record a statement. Sabarwal, on her social media, indicated that the notice comes across as a selective target; the government indirectly seems to have responded with her transfer.
