Terror attack in Kashmir: 1 dead, 6 injured; many tourists were on summer vacation
Srinagar: Twenty Six dead, seven injured in a deadly terror attack in Baisaran valley in Pahalgam, more than 100 km south of the capital Srinagar, on April 22, 2025. After Pulwama attack that killed 40 Indian Army soliders, the attack on April 22nd comes across as a deadly targetted attack. Millitary Choppers have been pressed in to evaculate other tourists from South Kashmir.
The incident has pressed the panic button as many tourists happen to be in Kashmir for summer holidays. The terrorists were in camouflage, and the move seems to be a targetted attack,as tourists were asked for ID cards. Gun shots were heard the meadowns of the Baisaran valley, locals said. Pertinent to note that the incident happened at the time when American vice president JD Vance is in India on an official tour, and the news of a terrorist attack attracted international headlines

Immediate medical attention for the injured
In an official statement, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said, āI strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. I assure the people that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished. Spoke to the DGP and security officials. Army and J&K police teams have rushed to the area and launched search operations.
Directed the district administration and the health officials to provide immediate medical attention to those admitted at Pahalgam. An injured tourist has been evacuated to GMC Anantnag. I pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured.ā
Amit Shah will shortly arrive in Srinagar to hold an emergency meeting with security agencies following a terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam.

In a post on X, Amit Shah, condemned the terror attack, stating that he is anguished by the attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
āMy thoughts are with the family members of the deceased. Those involved in this dastardly act of terror will not be spared, and we will come down heavily on the perpetrators with the harshest consequences,ā he said.
PM Modi was briefed about the attack
He added that he also briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the incident. āBriefed PM Modi about the incident and held a meeting with the concerned officials via video conferencing. Will shortly leave for Srinagar to hold an urgent security review meeting with all the agencies,ā he said.
Earlier, sources said that PM Modi, who is on a visit to Saudi Arabia, spoke with Amit Shah over the phone on the Pahalgam terror attack. PM asked Amit Shah to take all suitable measures and also visit the attack site, they said.
