Hyderabad: After a gap of three years, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has revised student bus pass charges in Hyderabad and Warangal, citing rising operational costs.
The revised fares, which also include monthly passes for general commuters, came into effect on Monday, June 9.
The corporation stated that despite absorbing increasing expenses over the past few years, it was no longer sustainable to maintain old pricing structures. This prompted a revision aimed at ensuring uninterrupted and improved services.
Students are allowed on Metro Express buses
In a move to reduce overcrowding in City Ordinary buses during peak hours, TGSRTC has now extended student bus pass validity to Metro Express buses in Hyderabad.
The decision comes in response to growing demand and student rush during morning and evening hours, which has led to frequent overloading on key routes.
Toll plaza user charges revised
Additionally, TGSRTC has revised toll plaza user charges in line with the annual toll updates by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
As per the updated structure, Rs 10 per toll plaza will be charged from each passenger only if the bus route includes travel through a toll plaza. This change also came into effect on June 9.
However, passengers travelling within Hyderabad city limits will not be affected, as the city routes do not pass through any toll plazas.
For decades, passengers and students have stood firmly by the side of the RTC, welcoming every decision with understanding and support. They consider the corporation as part of their own family, serving as its backbone and constant source of encouragement, the government body said in a statement.
The management extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who have consistently shown trust and loyalty toward the public transport system. It appeals to everyone to kindly embrace the recent revisions in bus pass and toll plaza user charges, which are essential for sustaining and improving services.
