The mountains are calling: This winter, visit these places in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: As November ends and December begins, and the cold and chilly winter days start to set in, there are many places in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh where you can enjoy the best parts of the season surrounded by mountains, clouds, and the breeze. As winter begins, many areas in the agency, including Araku, Paderu, Vajangi, and Lambasingi, turn into the coldest places in the state.

Over the years, these places have become popular for their view of the mountains and clouds and are said to be a must-visit place. This winter, NewsMeter has a list of some of the coolest places in Visakhapatnam which every mountaineer, trekker, and those who want to explore new places can hike to.

Tarabu Waterfalls

Located approximately 120 km from Araku via Paderu, this place is one of the new places to visit. The road to reach the waterfalls is quite difficult due to the hilly terrain, but it is the best place to visit during winter. The path is surrounded by greenery and the view of the waterfalls is stunning.

Lambasingi

Popularly called 'The Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh', Lambasingi is a small village located in Chintapalli mandal. Located around 1,000 meters above sea level, it records the lowest temperatures in the state. The place once had no tents or accommodation facilities but is now teeming with hotels, tents, and eateries. Strawberry picking in Lambasingi is quite popular among tourists and so is the honey made by the tribals. If you are visiting the place, it is better to start in the evening, stay in the tents, watch the stars and enjoy the foggy mornings.

Vanjangi

Known as the 'Ocean of Clouds' (Megha Samudram), Vanjangi records temperatures that go as low as 3 to 4 degrees Celsius during the winter. Yes, it is quite a hard trek but it is worth it. It takes about 3-4 hours from Vizag city to reach the vantage point which is around 100km from the city and 6km from Paderu. A 5-6 km walk through the forests is a thrilling experience. This season, visitors are not allowed after 5 p.m and can only go after 3 a.m. Alcohol and plastic use is completely banned in Vanjangi hills.

Yarada beach

Many people who visit Yarada beach go to watch the blue waters. But how many of you have trekked to Yarada hill? Sitting atop the Yarada hill and watching the Bay of Bengal is like a slice of heaven. To the end of the beach area, you can find a way to trek atop the hill. Quite risky but it is fun going with friends, sitting at the top, and watching the blue waters.

Paderu

Vizag is not just about hills and waterfalls, it is also about the scenic roads. Many of us do not know that Visakhapatnam has scenic roads and one such is Paderu. It takes around 3 hours to reach Paderu via Narsipatnam. The road that leads to Paderu has some of the best locations for photoshoots. With not much traffic, people can also take photos in the middle of the ghat road.
