KB ASIFABAD: A 69-year-old Kolam tribal, Sidam Bheemu, belonging to Khanapur hamlet in Chaupanguda gram panchayat of Wankidi Mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, was killed by a tiger in his cotton field on Tuesday afternoon. This is the third human kill by a tiger in the district, all tribals, and all being uncannily recorded in November, the first two coming in that month of the year 2020.
According to sarpanch Sidam Anniga, Bheem was killed by the tiger in his cotton field while he was keeping a watch in the afternoon. His family members were eating lunch a few meters away when the tiger is said to have pounced upon the unsuspecting tribal.
The big cat dragged the body some distance downhill after attacking the tribal. His blood-soaked dead body was recovered after a few tense hours.
The ill-fated man is survived by his wife and two sons, and two daughters. KB Asifabad District forest officer Dinesh Kumar visited the scene and announced immediate relief for the family.
It may be recalled that Sidam Vignesh, a 22-year-old tribal youth, was killed by a tiger in the Digda forest on November 11, 202. The second human kill by a big cat in the same district was recorded on November 29 that year.
