TIMS residents transfer spark row, doctors threaten to boycott work

Hyderabad: A major row has erupted after the government transferred two senior resident doctors from Telangana Institute of Medical Science (TIMS), Hyderabad.

On Wednesday, Dr. Arundhati, Senior Resident, Community Medicine, and Dr. Wasey Wasim Kabir, Senior Resident, General Medicine, were shifted to RIMS, Adilabad, with immediate effect. The duo was appointed for one year in 2020.

Telangana Senior Residents Doctors Association (TSRDA) has threatened to boycott duties if the order is not revoked forthwith. "We strongly condemn the transfer. We demand immediate revocation of the order. If the order is not revoked, we will boycott duties." the association said on Wednesday.

According to the TSRDA, the two doctors were transferred to RIMS, Adilabad from TIMS, Hyderabad without any proper reason. "Information is that they have questioned administration of TIMS over lapses and inadequate infrastructure," TSRDA.

Doctors alleged that there is no CT scan facility to monitor ICU patients. Plus laboratory is not equipped to do tests. "Further, there is a shortage of doctors, nurses, and ward boys. As a result, there is no patient care. There is also no proper food facility for patients. Patients are starving. Meals are not served on time," doctors said.
