Tirupati: In a heart-breaking incident, a father was forced to carry the body of his son on a motorcycle to Chitvelu village in Annamayya district after the ambulance operators of SVR Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati demanded high prices.

The man carried his son Jesava's body on the bike for 90 km for the final rites. Jesava died due to kidney-related ailments. The ambulance drivers demanded Rs. 20,000 to transport his body.



According to sources, villagers had organised a free ambulance and sent it to the hospital. However, the six ambulance operators of the hospital did not allow the vehicle inside.

The incident has been brought to the notice of the district collector. It is learnt that a mafia runs the ambulance service in Ruia Government Hospital. They demand a huge amount from people who want to take patients or victims from the hospital to their villages.
