To boost tourism, Telangana slashes Haritha Hotels room tariffs by 50%

Hyderabad: Tourists and hodophiles have good reasons to cheer. Telangana Tourism has decided to cut down room tariffs in Haritha Hotels and Resorts by 50 percent.

However, this will apply only from Monday to Thursday. The charges for Friday, Saturday and Sunday will remain the same. This decision will be implemented, albeit for September on a pilot basis, in all Haritha Hotels run by Telangana Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) in the state.

Government sources informed that the tariff reduction and response in September would be assessed and further decisions would be taken accordingly. Also, this novel initiative is being planned to coincide with World Tourism Day which is celebrated on September 27 every year.

At present TGTDC is operating 25 Haritha Hotels and Resorts spread across nook and corner of the State, most of them located near famous temples, popular tourist spots or locations, dams, and reservoirs.

It is observed that tourists and travelers from other States and within Telangana prefer to explore these destinations on weekends and during public holidays and hence the occupancy in Haritha hotels and resorts located near these sites is observed to be the highest. Occupancy ranges between 80 percent to 100 percent from Friday to Sunday.

These are the days when people get free and leisure time away from their busy schedules at work or business and understandably so would like to go on vacation and outstation visits to spend quality time with family and friends.

However, during weekdays (from Monday to Thursday), the occupancy in Haritha accommodations falls to around 40 percent. Telangana Tourism has come up with the tariff cut decision to overcome this trend.

This novel initiative aims to encourage more people to come and explore the beautiful locations and also visit pilgrim centers in Telangana besides staying in Haritha accommodations thus saving some money.

Affordable stays to get cheaper

Compared to private hotels, resorts, or lodges, the room tariffs in Haritha hotels and resorts are comparatively cheaper. The different categories of accommodation are: Standard rooms (non-A/C and A/C), Deluxe Rooms (A/C), and Executive A/C Suites.

The tariffs mostly range from Rs 900 to Rs 1350 for non- A/C accommodations for one day while for A/C it starts from Rs 1500 with majority hotels in the Rs 2500-3500 (plus 12 percent GST extra).

The room tariff is comparatively higher in Haritha hotels located in urban areas while it gets reduced in remote areas and far-off districts. With a 50 percent tariff reduction applicable from September 1, the room tariffs will get cheaper.

Already, the tourism department is offering a 20 percent flat discount on accommodation during week-days (Monday to Thursday) in select Haritha hotels near temples like Bhadrachalam, Yadadri, Kaleshwaram, etc., and this the sources say, has been in implementation for a few years already.

The Plaza, Begumpet an exception

The tariff reduction will be implemented in 24 Haritha hotels and resorts operated by TGTDC barring Plaza Hotel in Begumpet, Hyderabad.

This hotel boasts of 6 Suite Rooms, 3 Deluxe Rooms, and over 70 Premium and Standard rooms, the room tariffs (ranging from Rs 3500 to Rs 6000 plus including GST) understandably so are on the higher side for the premium facilities and location advantages it offers and it is also bang in the middle of Hyderabad.

Irrespective of any day of the week the room tariffs are the same and it will continue to be the same even in September month.

Revised tariffs on the website

Just to inform you all Telangana Tourism offers room booking options through its website beside other means. Hence the revised tariffs updation task has been assigned to the concerned staff and the process is likely to be completed any moment.

Once this is done, reduced tariff prices will be reflected on the website and people can plan their visit and do bookings from the comforts of their homes.
