Hyderabad: Ahead of the Telangana Assembly polls, the BRS government has chosen to focus on Transportation, Health, TSRTC employee's welfare and Orphans.

The Telangana Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has decided to Invest Rs 60,000 crore for metro extension in the coming 3-5 years. Considering that TSRTC employees constitute a large vote bank, the government has decided to identify 43,373 transport employees as Telangana Government employees.

In a boost to the health infrastructure, the government has approved 8 more medical colleges in the state. This move is envisaged to have one college per district. The Cabinet has also decided to have more government hospitals in Hyderabad along the lines of NIMS.

In view of the incessant rains the state has been receiving, the Cabinet has decided to spend Rs 500 crore on relief and aid for all those who suffered losses.

Metro Extension— Metro Rail project Phase-III expansion - 6 Metro Extension Corridors. Metro rail all along ORR for its entire length and Elevated 2 level corridors-

Phase-III part A:

1) BHEL-Patancheruvu-Isnapur Corridor (13 km; Rs.3,250 Cr).

2) L.B.Nagar-Hayatnagar – Peddamberpet Corridor (13 km; Rs.4,500 Cr).

3) Shamshabad jn Metro station-Kothur-Shadnagar Corridor (28 km; Rs.6,800 Cr).

4) Uppal-Ghatkesar-Bibinagar Corridor (25 km; Rs.6,900 Cr).

5) Shamshabad Airport-Tukkuguda ORR-Maheswaram X roadKandukur Corridor (26 km; Rs.6,600 Cr).

6) Tarnaka – ECIL Elevated Metro (8 Km; Rs.2300 Cr)

Phase-III Part B - ORR Metro Corridors:

The entire stretch of ORR

Phase-III Part C – Elevated 2-Level Corridors :

An elevated two-level corridor (one of that will be exclusively for metro rail)

at following routes

a) JBS to Tumkunta

b) Paradise junction to Kandlakoya via Kompally

GoI will be requested to provide necessary clearance through the MoD area.




Metro length is now 400 km of worth Rs 60,000 crores. "I extend my sincere thanks to CM KCR Garu and my cabinet colleagues for resolving to expand Hyderabad Metro Rail connectivity to a whopping total 400 KM in the timeframe of next 3-5 years with an estimated outlay of ₹69,000 crores", said BRS working President K.T Rama Rao.

Airport

The Telangana cabinet has also discussed the possibility of having a second airport for Hyderabad in view of the growing number of air fryers. Currently, Shamshabad- hands both domestic and International travel. The government contemplates having another airport for commuters living in the flag end of Shamshabad.

"We are looking at proposing a Hybrid model at Hakimpet airport. Currently, the Indian Air Force carry out training and certain VIP flying operations. The Cabinet has discussed the possibility of introducing commercial operations at Shamirpet," added Minister KTR.

At present, the airport falls under the control of Defence authorities and the operations is controlled by The Indian Air Force.

Children of the State

Scoring a high point over other states, the Telangana government has decided to adopt orphans. Indefinite age, these adopted orphans will be called ‘Children of the state’. The cabinet is likely to introduce a policy in this regard. ‘

"None of the Indian states have a policy in place for orphans, Telangana will be the first. In the next cabinet meeting, a policy will be framed and introduced." said Minister KTR

What was discussed in the cabinet meeting:

Districts like Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Hanmakonda, Nirmal, Adilabad, Khammam and Kothagudem have been largely affected due to the incessant rains. Cabinet has approved to allocate of relief provided to the affected people and damaged infrastructure to the tune of Rs 500 crore.

The cabinet discussed three bills rejected by the Governor. They include bills related to Municipal Administration, Panchayat and Education.

The cabinet gave its nod to establish a Horticulture college in Mahabubabad.

Four TIMS super specialities proposed for Hyderabad. 50 per cent of the services will be used as general consultancy and 50 per cent of services on par with NIMS in the hybrid system.

Rs 1800 crore has been allocated to develop 2000 bed capacity in the NIMS.

Cabinet has given the nod to allocate land for the South India centre for the kapu community.
