Travel safe in Telangana: Cops launch T Safe app for women travellers

Hyderabad: Chief Minster A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday, at the Secretariat here, launched the Travel Safe (T-Safe) app, a first-of-its-kind ride monitoring service by the police in the country, which aims at making travelling safer for women, children and other vulnerable groups.



This is the first time in the country that where a service enables emergency police response proactively through automation, without the citizen having to again press any button or dial 100.

This technology also helps send a live tracking link to the police patrol vehicle during an emergency. The person can also share live-location links with their friends and family.

How to access T-Safe app?

-The service can be accessed by dialling 100 or 112 and choosing the newly introduced number ā€˜8ā€™ in the IVR option.

- Upon dialling, the citizen is also sent an automated link using which the service can also be availed via the Travel Safe application available in Google Playstore or the T-Safe website.

- While using the service, citizens will get automated alerts on the app or by calling at periodic intervals, which, if not responded to in the prescribed manner, will initiate prompt police response.

Does it require a smartphone?

It does not require a smartphone or downloading of the app to avail the service. Even with a basic phone, anyone can avail of the T-Safe service by simply dialling 100 and choosing option 8 in the IVR to initiate ride monitoring by the T-Safe team.

The present fleet strength of emergency response vehicles includes 791 patrol cars and 1,085 blue colts. As part of future development, the Women Safety Wing announced that they will be integrating T-Safe with other applications of cab aggregators and other private transport services.
