Tricolours adorn homes across India; Har Ghar Tiranga portal flooded with selfies

New Delhi: Social media users have embraced patriotic vibes on the eve of Independence Day on August 15, with many changing their display pictures (DPs) and posting photos featuring the Tiranga.

On Monday, many individuals, young and old, several leaders and many celebrities hoisted flags at their residences and took a selfie with the Tiranga as a part of the Har Ghar Tiranga 1.0 campaign launched by the Central government.

Every citizen has been asked to hoist the National Flag at their homes/offices and upload selfies on the Har Ghar Tiranga portal and also encourage fellow citizens to do the same.




As per data on the Har Ghar Tiranga portal, at the time of writing this report, 62171541 people have hoisted the National Flag in their homes/offices and uploaded a selfie to the portal.

Popular Tiranga selfies include selfies from actors Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth, Anupam Kher, Sonu Sood, and Manushi Chhillar. Sportspersons, including Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sarma, also posted their selfies. Many students across the country have also uploaded their photos with the Tiranga.




On Monday, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah hoisted the Tiranga atop his residence in New Delhi and shared his selfie with it. Union minister and Telangana BJP state president G Kishan Reddy shared a photo of him hoisting the Tricolour at his residence in Hyderabad and shared the photo on Twitter.




Many archaeological sites in India have also been illuminated with the Tricolour.



Well-known sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik and his students shared a post of his sand art on the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign at Puri Beach in Odisha.




Millions of Tirangas billowing in Indian skies before Independence Day symbolise the nation’s collective will to make India the paragon of greatness again. The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, called for by prime minister Narendra Modi, is underway across the country.
