TS, AP fight over drinking water at Krishna River Board
The requirement of TS is 46.4 TMC while that of AP is 18 TMC but there is more water diverted by AP.

Telangana has taken up the issue of Andhra Pradesh drawing more water than required.
Water Reserves for TS
The total water reserves for Telangana are:
*Nagarjuna Sagar: 505 feet
* Srisilam: 805 feet
Telangana government has stated that Andhra Pradesh will not be allowed to take any more water from these two dams.
For the emergency requirement of AP there is water available upto 5 TMC from Pulichintala reservoir and share from Tungabhadra dam.
AP diverted 51 TMC
Telangana government irrigation department has written to KRMB that Andhra Pradesh has diverted 51 TMC of water in February 2024 from Srisialam dam. Population on the Telangana side of the dam is 2 crores and that on AP is 78 lakhs as per 2011 census.

The government via their letter has urged KRMB to restrain AP from drawing water from Srisialam dam.
Acute deficit
The year of 2023-24 is considered as the year of acute deficit year of rain water. For this reason, emergency drinking water requirements are to be given a priority by the government.
With the two states at loggerheads over water, the summer of 2024 is to be tough for people as water crisis looms large in both the states.
