Nellore: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has completed its probe into the alleged supply of adulterated ghee used in the preparation of Tirumala Srivari laddus and filed a chargesheet before the ACB court in Nellore.

15-month probe across 12 states

The investigation spanned 15 months and extended across 12 States, uncovering a wide network allegedly involved in the adulteration racket.

The SIT identified the directors of Bolebaba Organic Dairy, Pomil Jain and Vipin Jain, as the key masterminds in the case.

According to the chargesheet, entities and individuals from Andhra Pradesh and 12 other States played roles in the supply chain. A total of 24 accused have been named, while the SIT informed the court that the involvement of 12 more persons is under examination.

CBI-led team formed on Supreme Court orders

Initially, the Andhra Pradesh government constituted an SIT to investigate the case.

Subsequently, acting on the directions of the Supreme Court, a five-member Special Investigation Team was formed under the leadership of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Investigators initially traced the origins of the adulterated ghee to Tamil Nadu before uncovering inter-State links.

Multi-agency investigation

The probe saw the participation of DSPs and Circle Inspectors from the CBI, along with 30 officials from the State police.

Senior officers from the CBI, State police ranges and experts from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) were part of the special team.

A Tirupati Additional Superintendent of Police was appointed as the Investigating Officer by the CBI Director and played a pivotal role in the inquiry. Acting on instructions from senior CBI officials, the team prepared detailed questionnaires and conducted extensive interrogations of the accused.
