TTD OSD Dollar Seshadri passes away in Vizag

Visakhapatnam, November 29: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officer on special duty (OSD) Dollar Seshadri died of cardiac arrest in Vizag on Monday. He was 74.

Dollar Seshadri came to Vizag city on Sunday evening to participate in the TTD's Kartika Deepotsavam at RK Beach on Monday evening. He suffered a massive heart attack in the wee hours on Monday. He was shifted to a corporate hospital at Ramnagar in Vizag city, where he breathed his last.

Dollar Seshadri joined the TTD in 1978 and continued to serve the temple body even after his retirement in 2007. He played a key role in the abolition of the hereditary archakas mirasis system at the Tirumala temple in 1996 after a prolonged legal battle.

It may be recalled that Seshadri emerged as the face of the richest Hindu temple in the country. Though Seshadri was forced to quit after the gold dollar scam rocked the TTD, he re-joined the temple after the Court acquitted him in the case and served the temple till his last breath.

He repeatedly told that his only wish was to serve the almighty till his last breath and he lived his life that way.

His mortal remains are being airlifted to Tirupati, where his final rites will be performed.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, expressing shock and grief at the priest's sudden demise, offered condolences to the bereaved family members of Sheshadri.
