Visakhapatnam: Three persons including two children were buried alive after a three-storied building collapsed at Ramajogipeta in Visakhapatnam. Five others were injured in the incident.
According to the NDRF teams, a child is said to be under the debris.
The deceased were identified as Saketi Durga Prasad (17) inter student, his sister Saketi Anjali (10) class X student, and Chotu (27). All are a native of Bihar. Unfortunately, the incident occurred a few hours after her birthday celebrations of Anjali.
According to the locals, the incident happened at around 1.30 am on Thursday, when the building collapsed. It is said that the building is two decades old.
NDRF, police, and fire service personnel have conducted rescue operations and could retrieve three bodies. The search and rescue operation is underway. At the time of the incident, 8 people were inside the building.
The five injured were shifted the injured to the KGH for treatment.
Injured details:
Ground Floor:
1. Kommishetti Sivashankar, works as a noodles master. He was staying in the building only since last week.
First floor
2. Saketi Rama Rao.
3. Saketi Kalyani, working as a staff nurse in Ayushman Hospital.
Second floor:
1. Sannapu Krishna, working as a driver in Aravind Catering Dandu Bazaar.
2. Pathika Roja Rani, working as a staff nurse in ICU at Ayushman Hospital.
A case has been under Section 174 of CrPC. Police are in the process of seeking an expert opinion to ascertain the cause of the building collapse.
