Vikarabad: CM Revanth alleges BRS–BJP nexus, says KCR blocked Godavari water for Telangana
Vikarabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday said the Congress-led government is delivering welfare and development despite severe financial constraints, asserting that the past two years of “people’s governance” have focused on correcting the mistakes of previous regimes.
Addressing a large public meeting at Parigi in Vikarabad district under the Praja Palana–Pragathi Bata programme, the Chief Minister alleged that the BRS and the BJP have entered into a “backroom understanding” to undermine the Congress, even as they failed to address local issues over the past decade.
Welfare push amid financial stress
Revanth Reddy said the government inherited heavy debts but has continued welfare schemes and development works without interruption. “We are fixing past errors and moving forward with people-centric governance,” he said, calling on citizens to support the State’s reform agenda.
Godavari water allegations against previous regime
Launching a sharp attack on former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), Revanth Reddy alleged that Godavari waters meant for Ranga Reddy district were blocked. He claimed that KCR even advised N. Chandrababu Naidu to divert Godavari waters.
“When nearly 3,000 TMC of water flows into the sea, why couldn’t 300 TMC be allocated to Ranga Reddy? That alone could have ensured irrigation and drinking water for nearly 30 lakh acres,” he said.

Irrigation and Regional Development Roadmap
Reiterating his government’s commitment to make Tandur, Parigi, Vikarabad and Chevella agriculturally prosperous, the Chief Minister announced that the Maktal–Narayanpet–Kodangal lift irrigation project would be completed within three years, providing irrigation to 1.5 lakh acres.
He also announced land acquisition and preparatory works for a reservoir at Lakshmidevipalli, underground drainage and drinking water supply from the Kagna river to Tandur town. Road works from Appa Junction to Manneguda and further up to Tandur are expected to be completed within a year.
Attack on KTR, Harish Rao and Phone-Tapping cases
Revanth Reddy accused BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao of attempting to create chaos whenever notices are issued in investigations.
“Serving notices in phone-tapping cases is not wrong. No one can erase the decade-long history of corruption,” he asserted, alleging large-scale irregularities in irrigation projects under the previous regime.
BJP targeted over ‘Vote in Modi’s Name’ Pitch
Targeting the BJP, the Chief Minister criticised appeals to voters in municipal elections made in the name of Narendra Modi.
“If people vote just by seeing Modi, how will they question a local corporator who fails to deliver?” he asked, stressing the need for accountability at the grassroots.
He further alleged a tacit BRS–BJP understanding to defeat the Congress, claiming that courts had pulled up BRS leaders for filing false petitions to stall Group-1 recruitments. “They tried to block Group-1 because Dalits and candidates from weaker sections were succeeding,” he charged.
Infrastructure, Tourism and Inclusive Growth
Highlighting long-term infrastructure goals, Revanth Reddy said the Regional Ring Road and radial roads would be completed, positioning Telangana as a major connectivity hub. He added that Vikarabad is being developed as an international tourism destination.
Emphasising inclusive growth, he said welfare initiatives are focused on farmers, unemployed youth and women. As part of this effort, he handed over cheques worth ₹567.69 crore under bank linkage and Stree Nidhi to representatives of 6,650 self-help groups in Vikarabad district.
Dignitaries Present
The meeting was attended by Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Legislative Council Chief Whip Patnam Mahender Reddy, and other public representatives.
