Visakhapatnam: Infosys to start operations from Oct 1; company to increase staff to 3000

Visakhapatnam: Techies have a reason to smile as Information technology giant Infosys will be starting its operations in Visakhapatnam from October 1. The satellite office has been set up in a four-floor building at Rushikonda IT SEZ Hill-2.

The company will currently start work with the existing staff in Vizag. The employees are working from home since the COVID-19 pandemic. The company will have 1000 seating capacity. It plans to increase staff strength to 3000 in the coming years.

According to IT and Industries minister Gudivada Amarnath, Vizag is all set to become an IT hub.

Infosys will be operating from the building, which was leased out to the Fintech Valley Project by the TDP government. The company is also in talks with the state government to have a permanent campus in the future.

Several IT companies:

Currently, Visakhapatnam houses Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Cyient, Conduent, Fluentgrid, Miracle City, and Symbiosys Technologies. " Visakhapatnam is ready to welcome many more companies. Dallas Technology Centre will start its operations in Vizag soon", said the IT Minister.

Back to office:

Many IT companies have started offline work after two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. While few techies are expressing happiness to get back to the good old office days, some do not want to disturb the work-from-home routine.

Another interesting fact is that many employees, who are working from home, have been found involved in moonlighting for extra money.

"Post COVID-19, many workers got the opportunity to be part of another project in which they can work alternatively. Some of the IT companies have called back employees to the office", said Krishna, an employee in an IT company in Vizag.
