Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam city police arrested around four persons in connection with the kidnap case of Visakhapatnam MP MVV Satyanarayana's wife Jyothi, his son Sarat and auditor G Venkateswara Rao on Thursday.
At the time of the incident, the MP was in Hyderabad. They allegedly demanded Rs 50 crore.
The police teams could rescue them within hours of their kidnap on Thursday, between Vizag-Eluru road. During the chase, the kidnappers have also hit the police vehicle, and a few police men got injured.
It took around four hours time for about 16 police team to catch the kidnappers. The police could trace the kidnappers with the help of phone signals.
Kidnapping is suspected due to financial transactions in real estate businesses.
According to police sources, the kidnappers broke into the MP's house in Rushikonda and forcefully took Jyothi, the MP's wife, into custody. The miscreants then called auditor Gannamaneni Venkateshwar Rao, living in Seethamadhara and kidnapped them when he reached Rushikonda.
In a statement released following the incident, MVV Satyanarayana stated that his family members were unharmed and safe. He is now returning from Hyderabad.
The primary accused has been identified as KV Hemanth Kumar, a rowdy sheeter with a long criminal history. This is his third kidnap after he was involved in the kidnapping of realtors.
Police are investigating this case. More details on the incident are to be revealed by the police.
