Vizag: Organ trafficking gang strikes again, harvests kidney from 32-year-old man
The victim was promised Rs 8.5 lakh for donating a kidney

The incident came to the fore when Gurujalla Vinay approached the PM Palem police complaining that he was cheated by the gang.
The alleged illegal kidney transplantation took place in December 2022 at Pendurthi locality, However, it came to light a few days ago after the victim, a resident of Vambay Colony in Madhurawada, complained.
He alleged that Kamaraju, an auto-rickshaw driver, approached him and told him that they were looking for a kidney donor. He introduced Vinay to some people and promised Rs 8.5 lakh for donating a kidney.
Vinay was taken to a private center in October 2022 for some tests. However, Vinay was scared to donate his kidney and fled to Hyderabad.
Vinay returned to Vizag in December 2022. He was allegedly kidnapped by Kamaraju, Elena, and Srinu and taken to Tirumala Hospital near Pendurthi in Vizag. Vinay was operated upon and his kidney was removed by the doctors on December 16, 2022.
Vinay later took a taxi to reach his home.
When Vinay was at Hospital, Kamaraju and his team gave an envelope to Vinayās mother. They said it contains Rs 5 lakh. However, when they opened it, there was only Rs 2.5 lakh.
Vinayās family members searched for Kamaraju and his team. But the gang disappeared from Vizag city.
Based on the victimās complaint, Inspector of PM Palem Y Ramakrishna lodged a Zero FIR under section 420 read with 120 (b) of IPC and section 18 and 19 of Transplantation of Human Organs Act-1995.
The case was transferred to the Pendurthi police station for further investigation.
