Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the arrangements for the Global Investors Summit (GIS) Summit to be held in Visakhapatnam in March.

The officials briefed the Chief Minister on the arrangements for the Global Investors Summit, slated for 3–4 March. They told the CM that between 2014-2019, the state conducted three summits and signed MoUs for Rs. 18.87 lakh crores, of which only Rs. 1.8 lakh crores materialised. Further, the average annual investment during that period was Rs. 11,994 crores, the officials said. During the current government, the annual average investment between 2019-2022 was Rs. 15,693 crores. From June 2019 till now, investments of Rs. 1,81,821 crores have been received and 1,40,903 people have got jobs, they added.

The Chief Minister said the summit has to move forward to attract real investments. "Prepare a comprehensive programme to explain the investment opportunities in the state. Andhra Pradesh should be a platform for manufacturers of the world, including green energy," he said.

While stating that roadshows will be organised in Taiwan, UAE, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and the USA regarding the Global Investors Summit, the Chief Minister asked the officials to study the way MSMEs are running in those countries and focus on adopting the best management in AP.

Preparations for GIS 2023

Since the G20 conference on Infrastructure Working Group meeting will be held on 28 and 29 March, the Chief Minister asked the officials to beautify the city of Visakhapatnam and undertake necessary roads and development projects. "Beautification works in main junctions and the Beach Road should be done. The work which is carried out is not only for the conference but it should be in place permanently. We should ensure that there are no problems in the arrangements of hospitality, transportation, etc.," Jagan said.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to form committees that supervise the arrangements. "All tourist attractions in Vizag and nearby areas should be in a pleasant condition. The safety of the delegates is important so strict measures should be in place," said the Chief Minister.

Mobile app

Officials said they are creating a mobile app for the convenience of the delegates attending the meeting which will have all the information regarding the summit, cultural excursions, and so on.

Bigwigs on the invitee list

About 250 delegates from all over the world are expected to attend the conference from the G20 countries. Four representatives from international organisations and 100 from the Central government will also attend the summit.

According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella are on the invitees' list for the GIS-2023. Ambassadors of various countries will be invited for the two-day event.
