Warangal, Khammam corporations and 5 municipalities go to polls on 30 April

Warangal: The State Election Commission on 15 April released the notification for elections in two municipal corporations and five municipalities along with by-polls in nine places across the state on 30 April.

Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (66 divisions), Khammam Municipal Corporation (60 divisions), Atchampet municipality (20 wards), Siddipet municipality (43 wards), Nakrekal municipality (20 wards), Jadcherla municipality (27 wards), and Kothur municipality (12 wards) are going to polls.

The reservation of divisions was also announced earlier in the day. In Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation, two wards - 2 and 65 - were reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs). While division 65 has been reserved for ST women, division 2 is reserved for ST general.

Eleven wards have been reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs). Five divisions (1, 3, 14, 43, and 46) have been reserved for SC women while wards 15, 17, 18, 37, 47, and 53 are reserved for SC general. Meanwhile, 20 wards have been reserved for Backward Classes (BC). BC women are going to contest in divisions 9, 16, 23, 25, 32, 33, 36, 38, 42, and 54. The wards reserved for BC general candidates are 6, 10, 12, 20, 21, 26, 34, 39, 40, and 41.

The wards reserved for General women are 8, 11, 19, 24, 28, 29, 30, 44, 48, 49, 50, 55, 57, 58, 59, 63, and 64. The 16 wards that are unreserved are 4, 5, 7, 13, 22, 27, 31, 45, 51, 52, 56, 60, 61, 62, and 66.

In Khammam Municipal Corporation, of the 60 divisions, three have been reserved for STs. While divisions 1 and 8 are reserved for ST general, division 32 has been reserved for ST women. Seven wards have been reserved for the SCs with divisions 22, 42, and 59 reserved for SC women and 40, 43, 52, and 60 for SC general.

Twenty wards have been reserved for the BCs with wards 28, 29, 30, 33, 34, 38, 46, 47, 48, and 57 reserved for BC women and divisions 2, 7, 14, 16, 19, 24, 25, 31, 44, and 51 for BC general. This apart, 16 wards are reserved for General women and 14 are unreserved.
