Davos: As part of the meetings at the annual World Economy Forum (WEF), chief minister A Revanth Reddy and Unilever CEO Hein Schumacher have agreed to set up two manufacturing units of the company in Telangana.

Unilever palm oil facility and refining unit

After their meeting, the Unilever CEO announced they would place a palm oil facility and refining unit in Telangana. CM Revanth offered full support and offered any suitable location in the Kamareddy district.

Welcoming Unilever to Telangana, the chief minister said, ā€œWe are here to fully support the major entry and growth of Unilever in our state. We must grow together, but without losing sight of larger sustainability and fairness goals for people and the planet.ā€

Bottle cap manufacturing unit

The Unilever team also agreed to set up a new manufacturing unit for producing bottle caps.

ā€œSince many products of Unilever are sold in liquid form in bottles and currently huge quantities are being imported, it would be a huge fill-up to Telangana manufacturing thrust to have the Unilever unit in the State,ā€ a public note from the government said.

Unilever, a global FMCG major, which operates as Hindustan Unilever in India, has so far had no significant presence in Telangana. Unilever has multiple manufacturing sites in India.

CM Revanth discusses the advantages of investing in Telangana

The discussion at WEF also saw the participation of IT & Industries minister D Sridhar Babu, officials of the ā€˜Telangana Risingā€™ delegation and Willem Uijen, the chief supply chain officer of Unilever.

The team said that CM Revanth Reddy showcased the extraordinary locational advantages, where Telangana State can be the gateway and bridge to several States in the south of India, and other states in the east, west and central India.

CM Revanth spoke to the Unilever CEO and the global supply chain officer about the advantages in supply chain and logistics manufacturing in Telangana that would provide, besides additional strength and a huge consumption-driven market, peerless ease of doing business, progressive policies benchmarked to the best in the world and the extraordinary vision for 2050.

Telangana Pavilion opened at WEF, CM Revanth Reddy to meet CEOs of companies

Earlier, Revanth Reddy, Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan, Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary, Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeev jointly inaugurated the India Pavilion at the Promenade, World Economic Forum in Davos.

They formally declared open the Telangana Pavilion as well, followed by an intense discussion on various projects where Telangana could set an example for India.

Paswan and Chaudhary also promised maximum support for various initiatives of the Telangana government in skill development and food processing.

Revanth Reddy, who is accompanied by state Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, would meet the CEOs of several top companies and the representatives of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Davos, it said.

The state received Rs 40,232 crore investments during the Davos visit last year and the government is hopeful of attracting major investments this year as well, according to a release issued by the state government.
