Davos: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has suggested a mid-year follow-up meeting in Hyderabad in July to further discuss the proposals that were deliberated upon at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
This follow-up meeting proposal has received unanimous support from global business leaders during the 'Join the Rise' event at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2026.
Why the July WEF proposal
The proposal was to address a critical gap in the international business calendar, as the 12-month gap between the summits leads to a longer waiting period.
CM Revanth Reddy said, "One year is a very long time for follow-ups in modern business cycles and making investment decisions. I request you to join me in bringing a July WEF Forum to Hyderabad."
The current 12-month gap between Davos summits is too long for the modern, accelerated economies of Telangana. Here is the rationale behind the bid:
Shrinking Business Cycles: In sectors like Artificial Intelligence and Life Sciences, six months can see a total shift in technology or market demand. Waiting a full year to reconvene often leads to lost momentum on complex deals.
The "Marketing vs. Investment" Divide: CM Revanth Reddy noted that "Davos is the place for marketing, but Telangana is the place for investment." He proposed the July meeting as a transition from the vision-casting phase in January to the execution in July.
Accountability on MoUs: Telangana secured massive investment commitments of ₹5.75 lakh crore at the Telangana Rising Global Summit in December 2025. A July follow-up would serve as a formal "Progress Check" to ensure these agreements move from paper to groundbreaking.
What a Follow-Up Meeting Means
For global CEOs and policy makers, a mid-year forum in Hyderabad offers three distinct advantages:
Course Correction: Mid-year reviews allow businesses to identify "anomalies" or procedural hurdles early. If a regulatory hurdle or infrastructure delay exists, a July meeting provides a high-level platform to resolve it before the end of the fiscal year.
Strategic Realignment: As seen in the launch of the Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026-2030, businesses need periodic touchpoints to align their internal goals with the state's evolving policy framework.
Harnessing Regional Momentum: While Davos is a global generalist event, the Hyderabad follow-up would be a specialist summit. It focuses the world's attention specifically on Indian growth, the "China +1" manufacturing strategy, and the burgeoning Bharat Future City project.
The Vision for 2047
The proposal is part of the broader 'Telangana Rising 2047' roadmap, which aims to transform the state into a $3 trillion economy. By hosting a mid-year WEF event, Hyderabad would not just be a host city, but the central node of a global economic corridor.
