Telangana police have arrested a man who attempted to kill Armoor MLA A Jeevan Reddy.

Cops seized a country-made pistol and sharp weapons from his possession.

Police said Peddagani Prasad Goud is a native of Kalladi Village, Nizamabad, and his wife Lavanaya is a Sarpanch of Kalladi village.

Police said the accused looks after Lavanaya's constituency. He had recently spent Rs 20 lakh from his pocket on the developmental works. However, in February 2022, MPO Makloor Mandal and Collector of Nizamabad suspended Lavanaya. His bills were also not cleared.

The accused suspected that MLA was behind the action. Therefore he nursed a grudge against him. The accused purchased the button knife from Nanded, Maharashtra, and the Air pistol from `Mustafa Arms & Ammunition', Nampally, Hyderabad.

Prasad met Suguna of Nizamabad, who introduced him to Surendhar Dayawathi of Balkonda. Suguna called Prasad and informed him that a firearm has been arranged. He told him to pay Munna Kumar of Bihar Rs. 60,000 for the weapon.

On July 9, Prasad handed over Rs.60,000 to Suguna who got it transferred to Munna Kumar through D. Srihari. On July 15, Surender met Prasad at Bheemgal village and handed over the country-made pistol without bullets.

On July 25, Prasad along with Damai Sagar went to Muzaffarpur of Bihar to buy ammunition. On August 1, Prasad left Nizamabad for Hyderabad. He carried Air Pistol and button knife and straightaway drove to MLA Jeevan Reddy's residence at Banjara Hills.

Prasad found no one on the ground floor. He enquired about Jeevan Reddy from cook Gangadhar. Later he went to the third floor. He opened the door of the bedroom and pointed a gun at the MLA. Jeevan Reddy raised the alarm which alerted his staff. Sensing trouble, Prasad fled from the scene.
