YS Viveka's murder case: Kadapa police books CBI officer for threatening suspect
The high court issued interim orders suspending further proceedings in the case
By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 Feb 2022 10:10 AM GMTVijayawada : The Kadapa police booked a case against Ram Singh- Additional Superintendent of police- CBI for allegedly threatening a suspect in the murder case former minister Y.S Vivekananda Reddy. Singh, who is probing the murder case, reportedly threatened a suspect to submit 'false evidence' and said to have harassed their family. A case has been registered by the RIMS Kadapa police, following a court's direction.
On 23 February Wednesday, Ram Singh filed a lunch motion petition in the high court challenging the police. High court issued interim orders suspending further proceedings in the case.
Gajjela Uday Kumar Reddy, an employee of Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), and one of the suspects in the murder case, lodged a complaint with Kadapa police alleging that ASP Ramsingh was harassing him and his family. His father Gajjela Prakash Reddy worked as a compounder in the hospital of Dr EC Gangi Reddy, father of YS Bharati. CBI had questioned Uday around 22 times.It is to recall that, earlier RIMS police took no action on the complaint filed by one Uday Kumar, following which he approached the local court. On 16 February, the court directed the RIMS police to register a case against Ram Singh, and a report was to be submitted by 25 March, 2022.
Explaining the cycle of events, he said, "On 14 February, ASP Ram Singh along with five constables forcibly entered my house and threatened him to give false statements. When my mother tried to come to my rescue, the ASP abused and intimidated her. He even threatened to register a case against my family and send us to prison" he said. "The ASP also asked to give a statement that he along with some others went to Erra Gangi Reddy's house on the day of the murder of Vivekananda Reddy, which is a false statement", he added.
Shaik Dastagiri sought security:
Shaik Dastagiri- driver of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy has requested for security. The domestic helper of YS Vivekananda claims that his life is at risk after he gave statements to the CBI. Dastagiri is the A4, in the sensational murder case of YS Vivekananda Reddy. During the probe, (CBI) recorded a second statement given by Dastagiri under Section 164(1) of the CrPC (Code of Criminal Procedure) was put before Pulivendula court. According to Dastagiri, after his first statement recorded on 31 August 2020, some of the suspects tried to influence him by offering money and land.
Case transferred to Kadapa court:
In another development observed in the Viveka's murder case, based on the request made by the CBI, the Pulivendula magistrate has transferred the case to Kadapa court.
Of the five accused, two- Erra Gangi Reddy and Dastagiri have appeared before the magistrate, while the other two Sunil Yadav and Uma Shankar Reddy were brought from Kadapa Jail. Another accused Devireddy Shiva Shankar Reddy could not attend the court as he is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS.
Sources said that CBI has intensified the investigation in Viveka's murder case, following the supplementary charge sheet. The probe so far has indicated that YSRCP Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy, along with another accused in the case, propagated that the former minister died due to a heart attack while the fact is that he was found in a pool of blood with grievous injuries.
