YSRCP backed candidates won in 70/ 84 villages of Ex-CM Naidus Kuppam constituency

Vijayawada: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy said that the YSRCP supporters have won 74 out of 80 village panchayats in the Kuppam Assembly constituency, that was previously represented by TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

However, Naidu took a shot at the YSRC candidates by claiming that the contestants won by spending a lot of money. He alleged that the YSRC leaders spent Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 on each vote to defeat the TDP-backed candidates. "In my opinion, YSRCP didn't defeat TDP, they defeated democracy itself," Naidu said.

Hitting back, Reddy criticised Chandrababu for spreading false propaganda over YSRCP's win. He said that the TDP has managed to win in only 14 village panchayats, which is less than 15 percent of the total seats, while YSRCP-backed candidates won 80 percent of seats in the third phase of the Gram Panchayat polls

The minister said that YSRCP supporters had won 2,574 out of 3,221 panchayats in the third phase, followed by TDP with 509 panchayats. He stated that the ruling party has been displaying photos of winners on the website to rebuke false claims by the opposition leaders. He said that credit goes to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who fulfilled every promise he made to the public about their welfare.

The minister said that people have shown their trust in the YSRCP governance in the number of votes they gave to the YSRCP supporters, without paying heed to Naidu's allegations. He said that Naidu was defeated in his own constituency as people were fed up with his leadership. He dared him to resign by accepting the defeat.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy said that YSRCP had swept majority seats in the three phases of panchayat polls and is certain to continue the lead in the fourth phase of elections too. He said that Jagan has won the hearts of people with his welfare activities.

However, Naidu alleged that the ruling party brought in outsiders to Kuppam to destablise the peace and credibility of the place.

Naidu claimed that despite the threats and attacks from the YSRC leaders, TDP and allies have won 41.41 percent seats in the third phase and the TDP candidates have won 1,093 panchayats. Naidu said that TDP won 38.74 percent seats in the first phase of elections and 39.52 percent seats in the second phase of elections.
