Amaravati: Former minister and senior YSRCP leader Balineni Srinivasa Reddy quit the party. On Wednesday, he sent his resignation letter to the YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He is likely to join in Jana Sena Party in the presence of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan on Thursday.

Sources said that Balineni Srinivasa was unhappy with the party leadership for not supporting him when he filed a complaint to the Election Commission of India doubting the efficacy of EVMs. He even demanded a thorough examination of EVMs and cross checking of the VVPAT slips in some polling stations in Ongole constituency after his defeat in Assembly Elections 2024.

After talks over his resignation to leave the party, the top leaders from the YSRC reportedly made efforts to negotiate with him and persuade him to stay.

A week ago, Balineni held a meeting with his supporters and YSRCP corporators from the Ongole Municipal Corporation in Hyderabad to discuss his future course of action. The former minister is also said to be having differences with YSRC Rajya Sabha member YV Subba Reddy, who wields considerable influence in the party matters.

Sources said, another 20 municipal corporators and a few party leaders are expected to leave the YSRCP. However, there is no official confirmation.

Four leaders quit the party recently

It may be recalled that on August 29, two Rajya Sabha members Mopidevi Venkata Ramana and Beeda Mastan Rao resigned both from the party and as MP.

Mopidevi Venkata Ramana RS term was to end in June 2026. However, he was upset with the party leadership. Mopidevi has represented the Kuchinapudi assembly constituency twice and the Repalle assembly constituency once. He also served as a legislative council member.

Another MLC Pothula Suneetha has resigned from the YSRCP and her membership in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. Suneetha previously switched to YSRCP from TDP as an MLC. She is now planning to return to her former party.

A month ago, key leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas resigned from party posts. Alla Nani quit as the party's Eluru district president and party in-charge of the Eluru Assembly constituency.
