YSRCP worker death case: Nallapadu police seized Jagan’s bulletproof SUV
Amaravati: Nallapadu police have seized the bulletproof Toyota Fortuner, used by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in the YSRCP worker death case.
The action follows forensic and eyewitness confirmation that the vehicle crushed C. Singayya, a party worker, to death during Jagan’s visit to Rentapalla on June 18.
Notices served at YSRCP Office
Police from Nallapadu station arrived at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli late Tuesday night to serve official notices to Jagan. In his absence, the party’s office secretary, Appi Reddy, accepted the documents.
Palnadu tour turns fatal
Jagan was in Rentapalla to console the family of a YSRCP leader who had allegedly died by suicide, which the party claims was a result of harassment by opposition TDP leaders and the local police. Despite restrictions on convoy size, several unpermitted vehicles joined the procession, while thousands gathered along the route.
At Etukuru village, amid the heavy crowd and convoy confusion, party worker Singayya was reportedly knocked down and fatally run over.
Police confirm SUV involvement
Initial statements by Guntur SP S Satish had dismissed the involvement of Jagan’s convoy, suggesting a private vehicle had crushed the man to death. However, following further investigation, the SP revised the statement on Sunday, confirming that the fatal vehicle was indeed Jagan's bulletproof SUV
Vehicle seized; criminal probe ongoing
A senior police official confirmed the seizure of an SUV (AP 40 DH 2349). “The vehicle was identified through forensic evidence. It has now been seized, and a full investigation is underway,” he said.
A case has been filed naming YS Jagan as accused No. 2.
Jagan alleges security lapses
Reacting on social media, YS Jagan expressed concern over the absence of Z+ category security protocols during his movement. He criticised the state government for failing to implement standard safety measures, such as pilot vehicles and rope parties, calling it a “serious breach of protocol.”
