Tractor driving in wrong lane hits motorbike in Bachapually, kills one

Hyderabad: The police have found that the tractor that hit a motorbike at VNR college in Bachapually on 21 September resulting in the death of one person was in the wrong lane. The tractor driver was arrested on 22 September.

On Monday, Bapireddy and his wife Kolli Seetha were returning from Alwal when a tractor, driven by Varikupala Ramulu, hit their motorbike. The couple fell down and came under the wheels of a DCM vehicle. While Bapireddy received severe injures, his wife received internal injuries and died on the spot.

A case was registered under various sections of the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act at Bachupally police station.

According to a police officer, “The tractor driver, V. Ramulu, did not have a driving license and was driving in the wrong lane which is highly dangerous and can cause serious accidents. This amounts to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.”

Ramulu was arrested on Tuesday and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. The owner of the tractor, S. Srinu, will also be arrested for allowing a person without a driving license to operate the vehicle.

The Cyberabad traffic police have appealed to the public and asked them not to drive in the wrong lane. Apart from a valid driving license, the public should also possess valid insurance papers and driving skills for their own safety, the cops said.
