TRS activist killed in freak road mishap near Hyderabad

Hyderabad: An active member of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti died in a road accident at Mankhal on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Aleti Mahender Reddy was associated with the TRS state youth wing and had actively participated during the agitation for the statehood for Telangana region.

Mahender lived at New Nagole in LB Nagar. He father runs a party flag manufacturing unit at Shamshabad. On Sunday, he went to his father's factory, loaded flags of different political parties into his DCM van and headed for the city, said police sources.

When the vehicle had reached the limits of Mankhal village, one of its rear tyres burst. Police sources said Mahender lost control of the vehicle which crashed into the divider and toppled. Mahender, who was alone in the van, sustained multiple injuries and died on the spot.

Alerted by passersby, the police reached the spot and shifted his body for postmortem. While a case has been registered, the police suspect the burst tyre had worn out and was not fit for running.
