TRS candidate loses municipal polls, husband attempts suicide
By Newsmeter Network Published on 26 Jan 2020 5:41 AM GMTHyderabad: Dejected over losing the Municipal elections, whose results were announced on Saturday, a candidate’s husband allegedly attempted to commit suicide in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. Singanaveni Chiranjeevi, who belongs to ruling TRS, consumed pesticide. He was rushed to a hospital, where he is recovering. His wife Vijetha had contested from the fifth ward in the town.
Though Vijetha has lost from her ward, their party has bagged the municipality with 30 wards, with a thumping majority. TRS candidates grabbed 23 wards and BJP candidate won from one ward. Six independents also won in the town.
The fifth ward in the town was reserved for women. Chiranjeevi tried for the ticket for himself but it was subsequently reserved for women. Elections were held on Wednesday. He is undergoing treatment at the Singareni hospital. Bhupalpally police registered a case and started the investigation.
