TRS MLA Konappa, wife bombarded for violating procedure, asked to self-quarantine

Hyderabad: Following the news of TRS Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa and wife Ramadevi, who recently returned from USA, evading mandatory home quarantine. The district administration issued the MLA a notice to follow the procedure .

The couple faced severe criticism paying no heed to the mandatory measures, given the severity of the situation. Even as there were discussions on his public appearance, violating the mandatory self quarantine, Konappa on Friday attended the wedding of a local TRS leader’s son at Gajigudem village in Sirpur constituency in Kumram Bheem- Asifabad district.

Further, it is learnt that close to 500 guests including public representatives and government officials also attended this function, violating the orders of the chief minister restricting crowds to 200 and the advice of social distancing.

He was seen without a face mask and was shaking hands freely with people wherever he went. All the while, officials engaged in the Coronavirus awareness programmes accompanied him. However, given his past behaviour, nobody reportedly dared to advise him on the given situation in the state. With the Telangana government taking precautionary measures and people also complying, Mr Konappa’s behaviour has raised questions.

Following heavy criticism, the district administration issued him a notice asking the couple to self-quarantine.

Here is how TRS MLA flouted the norms

Mr Konappa, along with his wife Ramadevi, had travelled to the US in February to meet their kids. The couple landed at the Rajiv Gandhi Airport in Hyderabad on 16 March. After staying in the city for a day, they traveled from Secunderabad to Sirpur Khagaznagar in the AC compartment of the New Delhi-bound Telangana Superfast Express.

After reaching Sirpur Khagaznagar, he attended the municipal council meeting in the town. Then he went to Rebbena Mandal in the district to take part in the community Satyanarayana Swamy vratham organised by the Arya Vysya Community at Venkateswara Swamy temple, where he spent more than three hours.

It is learnt that at the airport, he and his wife had signed a declaration agreeing to the mandated 14-day self-quarantine. But the couple did not abide by that and moved freely in different parts of the city and in their constituency. His behaviour has not only become a point of discussion but is now creating panic among the party circles and the people in his constituency.
