Truck carrying 70 migrants from Hyd to UP overturns at Nirmal, 9 critical

Hyderabad: A truck carrying over 70 migrant workers from Hyderabad to Uttar Pradesh overturned at Nirmal district on NH- 44 on Saturday morning. The workers started their journey from Hyderabad late on Friday night and over 30 of them sustained injuries in the incident. The condition of nine of the workers is said to be critical. Two persons, who are more critical, were shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment.

According to the police, the workers belong to Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh and had been working in Medchal and surrounding areas on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Due to the lockdown, they hired a truck to go back home.

Migrants Truck

When the truck was passing through Bhagyanagar in Nirmal district on the borders of the state, the truck driver lost control and the vehicle overturned and fell off the NH- 44.

Alerted by other vehicle drivers, police teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital. On Saturday morning, endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy and Nirmal district SP C. Shashidhar Raju visited the victims and also assured of all help from the state government.
