By Newsmeter Network Published on 16 Sept 2019 2:53 PM ISTNew Delhi: Come September 22, a mega event called ‘Howdy Modi’ has been organised in Houston. US President Donald Trump will be joining Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the event.
This event is the first time that Modi and Trump will address a joint rally.
What is the ‘Howdy Modi’ event?
Howdy is short for ‘How Do You Do?’ A friendly phrase used in the Southwestern part of the US. This catchphrase has been specially designated as a gesture to Prime Minister Modi.
As many as 50,000 Indians and Americans from across the United States are expected to attend this mega event that will take place at the NRG Stadium in Houston on September 22.
While there was slight uncertainty about US President Donald Trump, being able to make it to the event, the White House cleared the doubt and stated that he would indeed attend it.
“It (Modi-Trump joint rally) will be a great opportunity to emphasise the strong ties between the people of the United States and India, to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the world’s oldest and largest democracies, and discuss ways to deepen their energy and trade relationship,” White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.
Soon after this confirmation, Prime Minister took to Twitter to express his happiness.
The special gesture of President @realDonaldTrump to join us in Houston highlights the strength of the relationship and recognition of the contribution of the Indian community to American society and economy. #HowdyModi
