Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Excise Department arrested two persons on 2 June for smuggling cocaine from Bengaluru and selling it in Hyderabad city. The two men had recently travelled to Bengaluru using an inter-state travel pass issued by the police department. While applying for the permits, they had said they were going to sell face masks.

The assistant Excise superintendent, N. Anji Reddy, said 54 grams of cocaine, two cars, and three mobile phones were seized from their possession.

According to the officials, Taran Jyoth Singh of Tirumalagiri and Amit Kumar of Lothukunta have been involved in the illegal drug trade for a long time. A few days ago, the duo had travelled to Bengaluru and purchased 70 grams of cocaine from a Nigerian national. They had returned to Hyderabad on 30 May.

The two men had sold 20 grams of cocaine and were trying to sell the rest to their other clients when they were arrested. The Excise officials had received a tip that the two were at Tirumalgherry in Secunderabad to deliver the drug to a client.
