Two youth donate plasma to save 56 YO patient in Srikakulam
By Newsmeter Network Published on 13 Aug 2020 7:08 AM GMTSrikakulam, August 13: Plasma therapy was formally launched in Srikakulam district after two youth donated their blood plasma and saved the life of a 56-year-old man undergoing treatment at GEMS Hospital.
District collector J Niwas said Prasant and Krishna Vamsi volunteered to donate the plasma.
Prasant donated his plasma on Tuesday evening and it was administered to a critically ill patient at 2.30 am. Krishna Vamsi donated plasma on Wednesday morning which was administered to the same patient.
Prasant along with five of his family members came to the Indian Red Cross Blood Bank on Tuesday evening. After screening, only Prasant was found to be fit for donating the plasma.
Similarly, Krishna Vamsi, son of BVVS Murthy, who runs Sri Venkateswara Educational Institutions at Etcherla came to Lions Club Blood Band and donated his plasma in presence of Club chairman P Jagan Mohan Rao.
The collector said he congratulated both the youth for coming forward to save the patient. He said both of them would get Rs 5,000 each for donating plasma. He said traveling and other expenses would also be given to the donors.
