Unable to pay Ganesh Laddu auction amount, youth ends life

Hyderabad: Allegedly upset over not being able to pay the amount auctioned for a Ganesh Laddu last year, a 22-year-old youngster committed suicide at Meerpet on the city outskirts. K Raja Ram Mohan Reddy was found hanging in his friend’s room late on Thursday night. Reddy had auctioned the laddu from a Ganesh Pandal near his house for Rs 55,000.

According to police, K Raja Ram Mohan Reddy, a resident of BN Reddy Nagar, was working as a television mechanic. He had rented a car from an individual, Raju, who resides in the same colony and was paying him to rent on a monthly basis. However, he was due to pay Rs 50,000 and was under immense pressure from Raju to pay the amount.

Meanwhile, Reddy had also participated in the Ganesh Laddu auction last year and won it for Rs 55,000, but was unable to pay the amount. As Ganesh Chaturthi grew closer this year, the Pandal organizers also began to demand the auction amount from K Raja Ram Mohan Reddy.

Allegedly unable to bear the harassment for the auction amount and car rent amount, Reddy hanged himself.
