Hyderabad:The prestigious Nature Index has ranked the University of Hyderabad (UoH) number one among Indian universities for research output for the year 2019-2020. This year UoH ranked 15 overall among all institutions, better than its rank last year which was 17.
“The Nature Index functions as an indicator of high-quality research in the natural and physical sciences (including Chemistry, Life Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences). It is indeed a proud moment for the UoH, now an institution of eminence, to be ranked number one among the universities. Our competition is from established scientific research institutes and the IITs which constitutes an illustrious list. We, of course, hope to better our ranks,” said the Vice-Chancellor of UoH, Prof. Appa Rao Podile.
The research outputs for UoH published between 1 April and 31 March 2020 were tracked by the Nature Index and considered for the ranking. Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Physical Sciences were evaluated for output subject-wise.
Based on this data, UoH’s rankings were number six in Life Sciences, 12 in Chemistry, and 13 in Physical Sciences.
