US returned NIT research scholar tested negative for COVID19

Hyderabad: A research scholar from National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal who was suspected for COVID-19 after returning from the United States has been tested negative.

Confirming the same, the institute stated that he had returned on March 1, after attending a conference. He went to his native Kurnool before joining on March 8. He stayed outside the campus.

In a statement released by the institution, it was said that, "As per the Interim Test Report dated 13th March from the Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad the Ph.D Scholar of NIT, Warangal is tested negative for the 2019-nCoV. The scholar has been in the MGM Hospital, Warangal from 12th March for the suspected Corona virus."

He was initially admitted to Rohini Hospital on March 10 when he complained of cold, cough and fever. The hospital authorities notified his case to the DMHO, following which he was shifted to MGM Hospital in Warangal on Thursday. He is currently under observation.

NIT authorities said that that they were taking all precautionary measures to conduct tests on all students returning from outside.
