Verdict in Kumram Bheem Asifabad gang rape and murder on January 27

Hyderabad: The verdict in the gang rape and brutal murder of a 30-year-old tribal woman in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district will be pronounced on January 27. The accused, Shaik Babu, Shaik Shaboddin and Shaik Mukdum, were produced before a special fast-track court during the final day of the trial on Monday.

The court had earlier examined 44 witnesses and gone through the forensic and other evidence produced by the prosecution.

The victim, a mother of two and a street vendor, was allegedly raped on November 24, 2019. According to the prosecution, the accused, all daily labourers from Yellapatar village in Jainoor Mandal in the district, then slit her throat.

The alleged rapist-killers were arrested only after tribals protested demanding action and pressure mounted on the police following the shocking gang-rape and murder of a 26-year-old veterinary doctor in Hyderabad.

With the rising demand from the community, a fast-track court was constituted and the police moved swiftly to file the charge sheet in a short duration.
