Biryani is king: Indians ordered 127 biryanis per minute in 2022, says Swiggy data

2022 was a back-to-normal year, and this year saw old and new trends in food, grocery, and errands delivery emerge. Data released by Swiggy showed that biryani continued to set new records and was the most-ordered item in India. Nearly 127 biryanis were ordered per minute on Swiggy—this is nearly 2.28 biryanis per second. As per a Swiggy study, the second-most ordered dish was masala dosa, followed by samosas. The Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore, emerged as the top city that saved the most with Swiggy One. Making the most of the benefits, members from Bangalore saved over Rs. 100 crores followed closely by those in Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi.
