In a major fire that broke out in an electric bike showroom in Secunderabad at around 9:30 pm on 12 September, eight people lost their lives according to the latest information from Chandana Deepthi, DCP North Zone. The deceased people reportedly died due to inhaling of smoke and suffocation. "The fire started in the basement of the building. We do not know the origin of the fire. All the electric bikes on the ground floor got gutted. The entire building was spread with soot and dark. Some people tried to jump out and escape, and they fell," said DCP North Zone. She also added that 7 people were hospitalized and around 25 were affected by the fire. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, DCP North Zone told NewsMeter. According to sources, the GHMC had given permission for parking the vehicles in the cellar of the 17.5 feet height building but the owner was running the business there. The owner of the building has been identified as Rajendra Singh Bagga.
