A female police officer's timely intervention saved the life of a woman at the stampede in Gymkhana Grounds on Thursday. Constable Naveena from Begumpeta Police Station saved a woman by giving Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The woman had fallen on the ground during the stampede at the Gymkhana Grounds where tickets for the upcoming India-Australia T20 match were being sold. Constable Naveena said they were unable to control the situation as they were hurt too. She said a majority of the people were injured. Handling anyone injured or saving a person during an emergency is taught during our training. When I saw the woman in such a state, I immediately thought CPR might help. According to the constable, the woman fell down and there were 50 people on her. "I tried CPR for 2-5 minutes, but I was scared when she did not respond," she said. "We immediately cleared the scene. We thought she had died but fortunately, we could save her," the constable added.
