Vijayawada Fire : AP Police announce Rs 1 lakh reward for information on Dr Ramesh

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Police have announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh for any one giving information about Dr Pothineni Ramesh Babu, owner of Ramesh Hospitals in Vijayawada. The senior doctor who is absconding, has been booked for the Swarna Palace fire fiasco that claimed the lives of 10 including two COVID patients.
The doctor has been on a run since the incident resulting in the AP Police announcing a cash reward for any one disclosing information about the accused.
Earlier, the Krishna district collector, revoked Ramesh Hospital's license to treat COVID patients after a fire at Swarna Palace Hotel, the hospital's makeshift COVID care centre.
The district collector, A. Md. Imtiaz, said the hospital had not taken the necessary precautions while operating the COVID care centre. Also, it was treating patients in the Metropolitan and M5 hotels without any permission and was collecting exorbitant fees from them.
Meanwhile, the Vijayawada city commissioner of police, B. Sreenivasulu, said eight special teams have been formed to arrest the managing director of the hospital, Dr. Pothineni Ramesh Babu, who is reportedly absconding. The police said that Ramesh Babu has been missing since the news of the fire at Swarna Palace broke. They are also on the lookout for the owner of Swarna Palace Hotel, Mutthavarapu Srinivas Rao.
