Vikarabad will now join Charminar Zone
By Dheeshma Published on 5 Sep 2019 6:03 AM GMTHyderabad: The long-time demand of merging Vikarabad to the Charminar zone has finally received its green flag from the state government. Chief Minister K Chandrasekar Rao has asked Telangana Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar Joshi to shift Vikarabad district from the Jogulamba zone to the Charminar zone.
After the bifurcation of the state in 2014, Telangana was divided into seven job zones. Vikarabad, a district that lies close to the Hyderabad zone, was however made a part of the Jogulamba zone.
The people in Vikarabad believe a merge with Hyderabad will offer new avenues to the district, which has been lagging for years. Vikarabad, an educationally backward district, finds opportunities for employment and faster frequency of recruitment by joining the Charminar zone.
