Village Revenue Officer caught red-handed for taking bribes

Hyderabad: A Village Revenue Officer (VRO) working at Abdullapurmet located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, landed in Anti-Corruption Bureau’s net. K Shankar, posted as VRO of Turkayamjal village, was caught taking a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The victim J Muthyam Reddy, a realtor, had approached Shankar for mutation of land records and updating the same in pattadar passbooks for his land in the village. For this, Shankar demanded a bribe of Rs 70,000.
On Thursday, while he was receiving Rs 50,000 as advance, ACB officials caught him red-handed and recovered the bribe amount from him. He was produced before the special court for ACB cases.
